Nice place love the town. One of my favorite places to go and relax
Frankly, quite disappointed. Unfortunately, the actual building and grounds barely resemble what is shown on the brochure. It was difficult even to drive into the entrance, as sumac bushes about 6 tall block the driveway and weeds and overgrown shrubs every where. Inside, the only place to sit down is in the foyer, as there is no living room or parlor as one would think would belong in a home built in the 1800's. Only tables and chairs for breakfast set up in four downstairs rooms. We could barely see out of the windows in our room as they were so dirty. The two stars are for closeness to the center of town and two of the staff who work the front desk and the kitchen. 5 hour drive for us, but not again.
Unsurprisingly, the Asheville BBB gives the place an F rating because she has not responded to complaints filed with them.
We made at least 5 attempts to contact her via the business. On each occasion we asked the employees to have her call us. Each time the employees at the place said they would tell her, but she has not seen fit to call. One employee gave us her cell number, but she did not answer and her voice mail said her voice mail box was full so we could not even leave a message.
P.S. Our room was spotless
Our room had no heat save a decorative fireplace that produced very little heat.
Google the owners name, Faye Yager, and decide if her reputation and history warrants YOU dealing with her.
This Inn does not disappoint. It is reasonably priced, and beautiful! I stayed here with my family and it was the highlight of our trip to NC. All of the staff was really nice and very accommodating. The Inn is comfortable and cozy, and rich with history. The bedrooms are nice, ours was equipped with a fire place. My favorite part was breakfast in the morning. Do not miss it! It is a home cooked delicious meal complete with: fresh squeezed orange juice (my favorite), coffee, grits, fresh fruit, english muffins, and in our case, two different quiches to try (this probably varies by day). I never eat breakfast, but I enjoyed seconds! This inn made our trip lovely, and if I am ever back to the area, this is where I am staying without a doubt. I cannot say enough good things about this place, everything was phenomenal!
We visit Brevard, NC yearly for the White Squirrel Music Festival and this year was the first time staying at the Inn. We were extremely comfortable in the main house and enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was awesome and you can not beat the location for the festival. The staff were friendly and extremely hospitable. They even went out of their way to call me to tell I left some clothes there and they would be sending them to me by UPS immediately. Can't find that kindness at a corporate hotel!! Thank you to the owners and staff at The Inn at Brevard. We shall see you next year!
Last and most importantly we had a bat in our room during the night. It flew around above our heads until it finally alighted in a lamp with a globe open at the top. We trapped it there with a towel over the globe. When we informed staff about it the next morning they were not concerned and disposed of the bat rather than preserve it for testing as they should have done. After we got home we read about it and found we needed rabies shots. We called the Transylvania County Health Department who confirmed that we should as the bat had not been preserved for testing. So we went to our local hospital and are undergoing rabies inoculations as a result of our stay (three shots for me and eight for her).
We will never stay in this place again and strongly recommend no one else do so. The room was dirty with dead bugs on the night stand. When i went to look out the window to see what the weather was all I could see what the dirt haze on the window and paint slopped on the pane from painting the mullions. The mattress was quite old and worn out. My wife found her pillow was encased in10 pillow cases. At the core they held a yellowing, misshapen lumpy pillow mess in place. Both chairs in the room were not simply old, but worn out. The upholstery was dirty and threadbare while the cushioning sloped toward the frond and sagged.
